Journal of Victimology and Victim Justice, a peer-reviewed journal focuses on both critical leadership and practical development representing victimological perspectives from a broad range of disciplines and contribute to a greater understanding of victims, victimization, victim- offender relations, institutional functioning and allied issues.Jul 2, 2020 · The politicisation of crime victims is a central focus of this book, but more specifically, this book examines how victimology, as a theoretically informed humanist endeavour, has shaped the political and criminal justice landscape during the last half of the twentieth century and continues to do so in the early decades of the twenty-first century. Since the foundational work in victimology at the turn of the 20th century, researchers have acknowledged a relationship between victims and offenders (or, differently stated, victimization and offending). Indeed, many victims were observed to be offenders and many offenders turned out to have experienced victimization.Purpose: To promote Victimology as a scientific endeavour; and, advocate for laws and policy that enhance victims’ rights and improve victim assistance to enable timely, fair and equitable access to justice for all victims and survivors.
