Crystal Beach is fine, there is an area called the Zoo that can get wild on holidays but you shouldn’t run into any crowds during the morning. Ferry line shouldn’t be bad either. Weekends and holidays are when the ferry line can get long. You shouldn’t have to wait more than 30 minutes during those times. Crystal Beach is located on Bolivar Island which is accessible by a free ferry from Galveston. This is the first beach that I have seen where cars are welcome to drive. Permits are required and can be purchased for $10 at most local establishments.
